Meet Rizzo.......
I did not grow up with pets. The only dog I knew as a child was a wildly aggressive, fenced in German Shepherd called Moses who lived next door. I was petrified of him. I’ve come a long way.
When my husband and I decided to give it a go with a dog of our own, I insisted that a small furry ball of fluff was the right choice for us. On our way to a Shitzu adoption event at Petsmart, we passed by a NorCalBoxer rescue tent. A smaller then average Boxer girl caught my eye and when she gazed straight into my heart, I fell in love. I immediately had visions of us going on long walks together. I could see her next to me in bed while I read the latest Twilight installment. I saw us watching “So You Think You Can Dance” together while we both hope for a Travis Wall routine. It was then I heard Harry Connick Jr. singing “It had to be you” in my head and I knew it was fate.
We brought her home less then a week later and named her Rizzo, just like the Pink Lady….. strong, street savvy and authentic. At the end of the day, she just wants to love and be loved. I’ve since turned into one of those crazy dog moms, taking over 1274 photos of her and repeating stories of how I can tell she is smarter then most other dogs to anyone who will listen. She has changed my life, she completes me….or something like that.
So, you'll have to forgive my dog ramblings for the next few posts. This seems to be what's occupying most of my time. We have already learned that Rizzo HATES kibble. We have been feeding her boiled chicken, rice, carrots and a whole lotta other good stuff. Any gourmet dog food recipes out there?

You are a good dog mommy. And a great writer. I can see it all!!!
ReplyDeleteI've got a great recipe I've been feeding my dog for about 18 months. I'll email it to you. Super easy - all made it one large dutch oven and baked. Rizzo is great - love that you have her and you adopted that baby.
ReplyDeletemy dog is the love of our lives. she will bring you so much joy. we feed our dog what's called "Limited Ingredient Diet" they sell only at PetCo. It's pretty basic, no unwanted additives and it's easy on the digestive system (we feed her chicken and sweet potato). Annie loves it!!
ReplyDeleteGo with the frozen RAW diet. It is the best thing for Boxers.
