I spent some cash on my wedding dress. Like, more then what was neccessary or in my budget and more then I care to admit. This was after swearing that I could easily find something at the $99 annual rack sale at David's Bridal. That didn't happen.
You see, Dallas is the epicenter of everything white and fluffy and bridal. I thought I was immune, until...as I joke to entertain my sister.....I went to Stardust Celebrations (aka Bride Central) and tried something so brutal on the hanger BUT was just perfect once I zipped myself into it and took a look in the mirror. Every inch of alencon lace and organza ruffles was oh...so...stunning....on my body. It was exactly everything I thought I didn't want but knew I had to have. There was no turning back.

While I loved how this dress looked, I never felt that emotional attachment to it. I got legitimately angry every time I looked at it hanging it my closet, taking up space. I would look at it and see a Vespa or a pure bred French Bulldog or an all expenses paid trip to a tropical island. I still resented the price. Everyone thinks I am crazy. Apparently, I am supposed to assume that I will give birth to a daughter and after about 30 years, wait for her to get married so she could wear the dress because:
1) We are assuming she will be the exact same height, weight and bra size as I am now
2) We will have the exact same taste that I have now
3) The dress will not have turned yellow or disintegrate by then.
Yah, no.

So, I started poking around online and found something so fabulous that I wanted to kick myself for not thinking of it first. Preownedweddingdresses.com. This is where "those" brides, who buy more then one dress because they cant decide OR decide to call off the wedding after realizing the guy is a total deuche OR are not emotionally attached to the dress (like me), come to turn the dress into a vacation. I posted my dress immediately for the small fee of $25 and I sold my dress last week to a lovely Dallas bride with a vision and a budget. My lovely husband and I are headed to Mexico with that money for a second honeymoon and Katy from Dallas has a beautiful dress to walk down the isle in. Win Win.

I think its a great idea!!! I did the same thing.... although I didn't get a fun trip out of it. : )
